Ingredients
Scale
For the Wings:
- 2 pounds chicken wings, tips removed
- Drumettes and flats separated
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Sliced green onions for garnish
For the Coca Cola Marinade:
- 1 cup Coca Cola
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade by combining Coca-Cola, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil in a large bowl. Whisk thoroughly until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Add chicken wings to the marinade, ensuring each wing is completely coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour, though overnight marinating yields the best results.
- When ready to cook, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
- Remove the chicken wings from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Arrange the wings on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they're not touching.
- Reserve the marinade for the sauce. Pour it into a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat and let the marinade simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook until the sauce thickens and reduces by about half, approximately 15 minutes.
- Bake the wings for 40-45 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking. They should become golden brown and crispy.
- During the last 5-10 minutes of cooking, brush the wings with the reduced sauce. Return to the oven to caramelize.
