Ingredients
Scale
For the Peach Filling:
- 4 cups peeled, sliced peaches
- 2 cups sugar (divided)
- 1/2 cup water
For the Cobbler Batter:
- 8 tbsp butter
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
Optional Topping:
- Ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Take a 13x9 inch baking dish and place the butter inside. Put the dish in the oven to melt the butter while you prepare the other ingredients.
- In a saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, 1 cup of sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes, allowing the peaches to soften and release their natural juices.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. This dry mixture creates the base for your cobbler's magical crust.
- Slowly pour the milk into the dry ingredients, stirring carefully to prevent any clumping. Mix until you have a smooth, consistent batter.
- Carefully remove the baking dish with the melted butter from the oven. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter. Important: Do not stir the batter!
- Gently spoon the warm peach mixture over the batter, making sure to distribute the peaches evenly. Slowly pour the peach syrup over the top.
- If desired, sprinkle ground cinnamon lightly over the surface for an extra layer of flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes. Look for a golden-brown top and bubbling edges, which indicate the cobbler is perfectly cooked.
